History of International Day for the Abolition of Slavery

Respect was first started by the General Assembly of the United Nations on 2 December 1949, since then it is being celebrated every year, the first purpose behind celebrating this day is to stop human trafficking and prostitution and slavery.

According to the report of the International Labor Organization, currently more than 40 million people are victims of slavery all over the world, who need to be freed.
